Brian
Dunlop is one of Australia's
leading figurative and still-life painters. Dunlop has lived and
worked in Sydney and Ebenezer, New South Wales, and at Panton
Hill and Port Fairy in Victoria. However, he has also painted
in Turkey, Tuscany, Rome, Skyros, Majorca, Morocco and India,
adding a richness and vitality to his oeuvre. 'I want the work
to ache with humanness.'
Dunlop's work encompasses portraits, still lifes, landscapes and
interiors in a variety of media, and has been internationally
acclaimed. He was awarded the Sulman Prize for genre painting
in 1980 and has painted numerous portraits of public figures including
the commissioned sesquicentenary portrait of Her Royal Highness
Queen Elizabeth II in 1984 for Victoria. His work is represented
in all major Australian galleries.
